I had to adjust my judgements when I lectured pupils with Down syndrome age 14-16 but regarded to be "retartard" some 4 years. But when I lectured them on sexuality, they were MUCH smarter anyone tought! And this was some 25 years ago! No computers for ordinary people and for sure not for "retarded" people with Down Syndrome. (Now the do have all p.c.'s ard some ARE even "smarter" sometimes and better able to handle Vista problems I am sometimes getting mad.
But that is the difference!!!! They are ABSOLUTLY aware of their handicap an THEREFORE eager to "learn" something due to my questioning style, not TEACHING 1+`1 =2 ! style.
